Dental implants

Absence of teeth brings both physical and physiological discomfort. The most universally reliable and qualitative procedure for today is the undergoing the implant with the subsequent installation of the crown. In this time, the integrity of surrounding tissues and all natural functions are preserved.

Reasons

•       Complete absence of one or more teeth

•       Destruction of the tip of the tooth with preservation of the root

•       Terminal and extensive defects of dentition

•       The cyst and the inflammation of the tooth root are not amenable to treatment

•       Complete lack of teeth

·      Allergies to removable dentures

Stages

A dental implant is made up of three steps which are: titanium implant, the abutment (which fits over the portion of the implant that protrudes from the gum line), the crown.

First method:

The implant is placed in a first surgery along with the cover screw; it is totally entombed by the gingiva.

After 8 to 10 weeks, the gingiva is uncovered by a 2nd step surgery and a healing abutment is placed.

The final impression and crown placement take place after 1 to 3 weeks from the 2nd step surgery (healing abutment placement).

Second method:

The implant is placed in a first surgery along with the healing abutment, where it is only partially covered by the gingival.

After 8 to 10 weeks, the final impression and crown placement take place.

Third method:

The implant along with the abutment and the temporary crown are placed in the same surgery (even after immediate extraction of the tooth). The final crown can also be placed in the same session (Cad Cam) or within the same week.

In some cases, for successful implantation, we need to restore the lost bone tissue, that is bone plastic and plastic surgery of soft tissues.

Results

•       Restoring the ideal aesthetics and functions of the tooth

•       Conservation of bone tissue

•       Removal of excess load of neighboring teeth

•       Elimination of discomfort during chewing

•       Hollywood smile!!!

Recommendations

Caring for the implants after the installation.

Implants require special care in the first weeks after the installation operation. This is the period when the design should quickly and without complications take root in the oral cavity.

Follow the following recommendations:

·       Refrain from sports and other physical activities.

·       Avoid stress.

·       Do not steam in the sauna or bath.

·       Do not travel (airplane). In these situations, due to a surge of blood to the head, sudden swelling of the gum may occur.

·      It is prohibited to sleep on the operated side.

·      Do not put warmers or compresses on your cheeks.

·      Do not eat hard or hot food.

·      You cannot eat berries with small seeds that can clog under the temporary crown.

·      It is recommended to rinse the mouth with an antiseptic solution as directed by the doctor.

·      During the cleaning of the teeth, the postoperative period should not be pressed with a toothbrush too hard on the crown. The part of the crown that lies directly to the gum needs to be paid more attention to.

·      Brush your teeth twice a day. For more thorough implementation of hygiene procedures, it is recommended to use special inter-proximal brushes with a set of narrow nozzles to clean the space between the teeth. In addition, you can use all kinds of brushes of different types and sizes.

·      Tooth flosses clean the oral cavity without damaging the gums.

·      Sometimes an irrigator is needed to effectively cleanse the gums of the teeth and tongue. A pulsating stream of water under the pressure of careful is the raid and remnants of food from the most inaccessible of their places. Irrigator treatment includes gum massage.

·      It is obligatory to visit the dentist twice a year for professional hygiene of the oral cavity.

There are patients which require a more closely monitor for the implant status:

·      Patients with various allergic diseases

·      Patients with diabetes.

·      Patients with a weak immune system.

·      Patients with a chronic stress condition

·      Patients with drug and alcohol and nicotine addiction

·      Patients with H.I.V.

·      Patients of the elderly and pregnant women.

If all the rules of hygiene are observed, implants will not cause the patient any inconvenience and serve for several decades.
